Introduction
Central York School District's "Panther Programmers" are students who want to learn about coding. The high school iTeam includes a group of students who like to code. At the high school, students can sign up for our iTeam any day during flex time. They can work on their own, or with other students. Some students work on learning new languages, and others work on projects for classes, other clubs, or outside organizations.
As time goes on, we will advance to lower grades, such as the middle and elementary schools. We will blend the middle and high schoolers, and label the elementary age range "Coding Cubs". At 6th grade, a student may decide whether they would like to stay with the "Coding Cubs" for a year or advanced on to the "Panther Programmers", based on their perceived skill level. The clubs began in December 2013 with Hour of Code. Each year we will try to encourage additional students to participate during Computer Science Education week, December 8th. To find more information about the Hour of Code, you can go to our Prowler Article.
